In his final fishing tip of the open-water season, Hall of Fame angler Terry Tuma talks about gear retrieve ratios, especially when using crankbaits.
Gear ratio is how a turn of the handle makes the spool turn x amount. A 6:1 ratio is one handle turn makes 6 turns of the spool or bail.
