Section 5 Alpine Ski Highlights
Several skiers from the northwest suburbs qualified for the state Alpine ski meet after excelling at the Section 5 meet at Wild Mountain.
Josh Nelson of West Lutheran won the boys individual title, with a total time of 59.23 for two runs.
Right behind him in second place was Jaggen Qie of Wayzata.
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s boys team qualified for state after placing second behind Minnetonka.
St. Cloud and Blake were the girls team qualifiers.
Wayzata’s Sonja Pendergast and Mia Duffy qualified for state as individuals, along with Lara DePauw of Benilde and Megan Roesler of Hopkins.
In addition to Nelson and Qie, local boys qualifiers are Aidan Eagon of Wayzata, Tripp Beltz of Breck, and Scotty Jenson of Hopkins.
The state meet is next Tuesday February 14 at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik.
