Rogers Edges Armstrong/Cooper in Boys Hockey
The Rogers boys hockey team edged Armstrong/Cooper 3-2 in Northwest Suburban Conference play Thursday. Tanner Weis scored the winning goal for the Royals with 1:51 to play in the third period.
The game was scoreless until the second period when Chase Cheslock scored a powerplay goal for the Royals.
Armstrong/Cooper tied it on a Noah Weisjahn goal with under six minutes to play in the game. Rogers re-took the lead 30 seconds later when Ty Frederickson’s goal.
The Wings’ Ryan Badertscher was awarded a penalty shot and scored at the 14:03 mark of the third period, tying the game at two, before Weis’s winning goal.
It was the second time Rogers (8-4) beat Armstrong/Cooper (5-7-0) this season.
