Rockford Sweeps Breck to Win 5AA Baseball Title

The Rockford baseball team beat Breck 7-2 and 9-2 Thursday to earn the program’s first section championship in school history.

The Mustangs came into the Section 5AA final needing one win to reach the state tournament while the Rockets needed two in the double elimination tournament.

Wilson Sanderson drove in two runs in the first game for Rockford while Aiden Smith drove in three in the clinching game.

Max Edwards threw a complete game victory in Game 1 while Pat Binnebose and Colton Lundberg combined to pitch the Rockets to the section title in game two.

Rockford is now 23-5 on the season.

Breck was looking for their first state tournament appearance since 2004 and finished the year 14-10.
