Providence’s Brooke Hohenecker Wins Three Races at State Track
Providence Academy sprinter Brooke Hohenecker went out in style as she finished her high school track career.
Hohenecker won the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes at Saturday’s state Class AA meet.
She won the 100 in a time of 11.93 seconds, the 200 in 25.21 and the 400 in 56.35 seconds.
In the 200 Hohenecker beat the state record holder and last year’s state champion- Emelia Skistad of Monticello- by 1/100th of a second.
The Lions’ senior was a medal winner, but not a state champion, in all three events at last year’s state meet.
Hohenecker, also a member of the Lions state championship basketball teams the last three years, will run track in college at the University of St. Thomas.
Maddyn Greenway of Providence also won a gold medal Saturday, winning the 300 meter hurdles in Class AA.
