Providence Academy Wins State Class AA Girls Basketball Title Again
The Providence Academy girls’ basketball team won its second straight Class AA championship Saturday, beating Albany 74-60 in the final.
The Lions trailed 33-32 at halftime but started the second half with a 15-2 scoring run to take control of the game.
Lions’ all-state guard Maddyn Greenway scored 31 points in the game, giving her 1019 points in 32 games this season.
Senior Grace Counts added 17 points and 16 rebounds, putting her over 1000 career rebounds.
Emma Millerbernd scored 12 points and five rebounds as the Lions finish the season with a 30-2 record.
Counts, Greenway and Millerbernd were selected to the all-tournament team.
Albany (30-2) was led in scoring by Alyssa Sand’s 29 points.
