Providence Academy Wins 3rd Straight State Girls Basketball Title
Maddyn Greenway’s basket with eight seconds to play gave the Providence Academy girls basketball team the winning points as the Lions edged Albany 81-78 for the state class AA championship.
Greenway’s basket put Providence ahead for the first time all game. The sophomore led the team in scoring with 27 points, but four other Lions players also scored in double figures, led by Brooke Hohenecker’s 17 points.
Albany, which led by as many as 18 points in the first half, missed a shot in the final seconds on their last possession.
Alyssa Sand led the Huskies in scoring with 29 points while Kylan Gerads added 23.
Providence Academy (28-4) won its third straight state class AA title.
