Providence Academy Legion Baseball Falls in Gopher Classic Opener
The Providence Academy American legion baseball team couldn’t come up with any clutch hits in a 4-0 loss to Huron, South Dakota in their opening game of the Gopher Classic tournament.
Huron scored two runs on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning, then added two insurance runs in the sixth as they bounced back from a loss to host Excelsior in their first game at Minnetonka’s Veterans Field.
Pool play continues through Sunday at each of 16 sites of the 96-team Gopher Classic.
Championship round games are Monday and Tuesday for pool winners.
