Providence Academy Girls Basketball Notches Win Over Crosby-Ironton in Class AA Showdown
In a match-up of two of the top girls basketball teams in class AA, Providence Academy got the best of Crosby-Ironton, 93-75.
In the opening minutes of the game, C-I’s Tori Oehrlein scored a lay-up to surpass the 3,000-career point milestone, becoming the fastest-ever to score 3,000 points in Minnesota girls basketball history. Oehrlein is just a sophomore and achieved the 3,000-point mark in just 101 games.
However, the Lions were able to get the upper hand on the Rangers and took a 16-point lead into halftime. PA extended that lead in the second half and ended up with an eighteen-point win.
Maddyn Greenway scored a game-high 35 points for Providence and is now just 36 points away from also eclipsing the 3,000-point career milestone.
Brooke Hohenecker put up 21 points for the Lions and Ari Peterson added 19.
The Lions are ranked #1 in class AA and will host Maple Grove on Friday night. The Crimson are ranked #3 in class AAAA.
