Providence Academy Girls Basketball Edges Monticello
Lexie Nicolai’s lay-up with under 10 seconds to play gave the Providence Academy girls basketball team a 77-75 win over Monticello.
The Lions (21-4) are ranked first in the state in Class AA; The Magic (22-4) are ranked ninth in Class AAAA.
Providence led the game by nine at halftime and extended that to 17 points early in the second half before Monticello rallied to tie and briefly take the lead.
Providence Academy guard Maddyn Greenway added to her career point total- now over 5000 points- with 36 points while Nicolai added 13.
Samantha Voll was one of four Magic players to score in double figures, leading Monticello with 27 points.
