Providence Academy Girls Basketball Drives for Another Title
The Providence Academy girls’ basketball team is shooting for yet another state championship this season. The Lions won their fourth straight Class AA title last winter with a 32-0 record.
Providence graduated two starters from a year ago but bring back three, led by all-state guard Maddyn Greenway.
The University of Kentucky signee averaged nearly 33 points per game as a junior and has a chance to become the state’s all-time leading scorer this season.
Freshman guard Beckett Greenway and junior wing Emma Millerbernd also averaged scoring in double figures last season.
Providence Academy opens the season Thursday against St. Agnes and then meets defending Class AAAA champion Hopkins Saturday at the Tip-Off Classic in Chaska.
