Providence Academy Edges Duluth Marshall in State Tournament Record-Breaking Game
Providence Academy edged Duluth Marshall 94-91 in the state Class AA girls basketball quarterfinals Tuesday. The 185 total points is a new state tournament record.
Marshall senior guard Gianna Kneepkens set a Minnesota girls basketball record by scoring 67 points, 42 of them coming in the second half.
Providence Academy 7th grader Maddyn Greenway scored 32 points to lead the Lions while Grace Counts added 25.
Counts’ basket with under 10 seconds to play broke a 90-all tie and helped give Providence the win.
The Lions (21-1) meet New London-Spicer in the state semifinals April 6th at 5:00 p.m. at Target Center.
