Providence Academy Boys Hockey Defeats Breck in Section 2A Quarterfinal
For a second straight season, the Providence Academy boys hockey team knocked Breck out of the Section 2A playoffs, defeating the Mustangs on Wednesday night, 5-2.
Neither team scored in the first period, but the Lions rattled off four goals in the second period and a fifth unanswered goal at the start of the third to take a 5-0 lead.
Breck did respond with two goals later in the third, but that’s as close as the Mustangs would get.
All five of Providence Academy’s goals were scored by different player.
Isaac Socolofsky, Jay Anderson, Joe Spades, and Eliot Carlson scored goals in the second period and Gavin Sattler scored the Lions’ lone goal in the third.
Next up for Providence Academy is a match-up with Minneapolis in the 2A semifinals. Breck ends its season with an 11-12-2 record.
