Park Center Boys Basketball Beats Osseo for Section 5AAAA Title
The Park Center boys basketball team will get a chance to defend its state class AAAA title after beating rival Osseo 62-52 in the Section 5AAAA final Friday.
The Pirates led throughout the first half, building a 31-26 lead at halftime.
They quickly pushed the lead into double figures in the second half and it looked like they might put the Orioles away early.
Osseo battled back though, and closed to within two points late in the game before the Pirates pulled away again in the last minute.
CJ O’Hara scored 22 points and Casmir Chavis 14 to lead Park Center.
De’Mari Larkins had 15 to lead Osseo.
The Pirates (26-2) are the top seed for the state class AAAA tournament.
For the second straight season they will face Northwest Suburban Conference foe Andover in the quarterfinals.
Park Center won the regular season meeting in a high-scoring battle 97-91 over the Huskies.
Park Center and Andover meet in the first game of the AAAA tournament Tuesday morning at 10:00 at Target Center.
