Paige Bueckers Helps Open Free Grocery Store at Alma Mater
UConn women’s basketball standout Paige Bueckers returned to Minnesota this week to lend her name to a good cause.
The 2020 Hopkins High School graduate cut the ribbon on a new free grocery store at her old school, Hopkins West Junior High.
Bueckers teamed up with national organizations Chegg and Goodr to open the store, which will provide free groceries to Hopkins West students of need and their families.
Studies have shown that hunger can affect a student’s daily school performance, as well as health and behavior.
Bueckers, a high school and college All-American, and one the country’s most recognizable collegiate athletes called her involvement in the project “one of my greatest accomplishments.”
The standout guard missed all the 2022-23 season at Connecticut with an ACL injury suffered in early September. She expects to be fully healthy for next season.
