Osseo’s Jake Contreras Wins Homerun Derby
It’s a popular part of Major League Baseball’s All-Star festivities, and a homerun derby is now part of the Substate 11 American Legion baseball tournament.
Osseo’s Jake Contreras emerged as the homerun derby champion Tuesday.
Contreras and Parker Colbert of Anoka advanced to the final round, with each smashing seven homeruns.
Contreras belted three more in the tiebreaker round to win the event.
One hitter from each of the team’s in the tournament participated in the tournament.
Osseo is the top seed and host for the Substate 11 tournament.
They open play Wednesday night.
