Osseo, Park Center Girls Golf Standouts Missing Senior Season
Osseo senior Ellen Solem and Park Center senior Laila Franklin were each hoping to return to the state golf tournament this spring.
The COVID-19 pandemic changed those plans.
Solem and Franklin each qualified for state for the first time as juniors last season.
They each have worked hard on their games and expected to have a good shot to get back to the tournament.
The one bright spot: unlike most spring high school athletes, golfers have been able to play some rounds since courses opened.
That means plenty of time at Edinburgh USA in Brooklyn Park for Franklin and at Shamrock in Corcoran for Solem.
The two are friends, and each will play college golf, too.
Franklin is headed to the University of St. Thomas and Solem to the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
