Osseo Outlasts Wayzata 11-10 to Win Sub-State 10 Legion Tournament
The Osseo American Legion baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Wayzata and win 11-10, capturing the Sub-State 10 tournament Sunday.
The win was the second of the week for Osseo over Wayzata and advances them to this week’s state tournament, hosted by Maple Grove.
Osseo scored three runs in the first inning to lead 3-0 after one.
Wayzata responded with a seven-run second and Osseo countered that with a six-run third inning.
Wayzata broke a 9-9 tie with an run-scoring single by Brady Lash in the top of the sixth.
Osseo scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly hit by Gavin Phenow.
Memorial Field is one of four sites for the state tournament. Osseo plays two games at home Thursday in state tournament pool play against Farmington (10:30 am) and Champlin Park (1:00 pm).
