Osseo Legion Baseball Wins Gopher Classic Opener
The Osseo American Legion baseball team won its opening game of the Gopher Classic tournament Friday morning, beating Inver Grove Heights 7-5.
Osseo scored three runs in the first and third innings and a solo run in the fifth.
Tyler Weum delivered a pair of run-scoring singles for Osseo while Gavin Phenow pitched all seven innings to get the win.
Osseo’s next game in the 16-site, 96-team tournament is Saturday morning against Mankato National at the University of Northwestern in Roseville.
Champlin Park, Hamel, Hopkins, Maple Grove and Wayzata are among the other teams in the five-day tournament.
