Osseo Legion Baseball Outlasts Buffalo for 13-Inning Win
Osseo and Buffalo locked up in an epic battle in the winner’s bracket in the Sub-State 10 American Legion baseball tournament Friday, with Osseo pulling out a 3-2 win in 13 innings.
Starting pitchers Aiden Marconett of Buffalo and Jack McHugo of Osseo were in control for much of the regulation portion of the game.
Marconett held Osseo hitless through four innings and fanned 12 in six innings of work. McHugo went seven innings, allowing five hits and two runs.
Buffalo scored on a groundout in the second and on a wild pitch in the fourth to lead 2-0.
After struggling with the bats Osseo came alive as Cooper Skov doubled to score Gavyn Krzoska in the sixth inning.
Skov scored on a passed ball to tie the score 2-2 and start a marathon of extra innings.
Relievers Cole Lindberg of Buffalo and Travis Godfrey of Osseo picked up where the starters left off, racking up zeroes.
After near misses that included Osseo loading the bases with no outs in the ninth, they ended it in the 13th.
Quincy Standal’s flyball carried over the rightfielder’s head to score Gavin Phenow with the winning run as Osseo moved to the winner’s bracket final.
