Osseo Legion Baseball Loses Regional Opener
The Osseo Post 172 American Legion baseball team fell 5-4 to Swisher Post 671 of Iowa in the opening round of the Central Plains Regional tournament Wednesday afternoon.
Osseo scored single runs in the first and second innings, carrying a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning. Brenden Kranz had a sacrifice fly to drive in the first run for Osseo.
Swisher, from the Cedar Rapids area, put four runs on the board in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead.
Schraden Lechtenberg had the big blow, clearing the bases with a three-run double.
Osseo scored twice in the top of the seventh to close the gap to 5-4 but their rally fizzled as Swisher held on for the win.
Kranz and Jorda Sivoravong each had runs batted in for Osseo.
Eli Larson pitched all six innings for Osseo, allowing just one earned run of the five given up while striking out five.
Logan Wagemester got the win in relief for the Iowa squad, with Kameron Volz getting the last out for the save.
Osseo is back in action in at the Central Plains tournament in West Fargo, ND Thursday at noon.
