Osseo Legion Baseball Falls to Farmington in State Opener
The Osseo Post 172 American Legion baseball team fell behind early on the way to a 5-3 loss to Farmington in the first round of pool play at the state tournament.
Farmington scored three runs in the top of the first inning on a pair of RBI singles and a sacrifice fly to take command.
Osseo scored twice in the fifth to pull within 3-2, but Farmington added two insurance runs in the sixth.
Those proved to be key runs as Osseo scored to pull within 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run at second base but couldn’t score again.
Pool play continues Friday at the four tournament sites, including Osseo’s Memorial Field.
