Osseo Legion Baseball Beats Anoka in Extra Innings
The Osseo American Legion baseball team won a thriller, beating Anoka 6-5 in ten innings in the Substate 11 winner’s bracket Friday.
Noah Thompson’s single to left field scored Wyatt Doubler from second with the winning run in the tenth for Osseo.
Osseo scored five runs in the bottom of the first, with John Klein’s three-run homer the big blow.
They didn’t score again until the last inning though, and Anoka clawed back into the game.
They scored two runs in the third and two more in the fifth before tying the game on a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Each team had some chances in extra innings but it was Thompson who came through with the clutch hit.
Osseo moves into the winner’s bracket final Saturday morning.
The tournament wraps up Sunday. All games are at Osseo’s Memorial Field.
