Osseo Defeats Maple Grove in Legion Sub-State Final
The Osseo American Legion baseball team defeated Maple Grove 4-0 in the final game of the Sub-State 11 tournament.
Osseo scored two runs in the first inning and single runs in the third and sixth innings.
Jake Contreras pitched a five-hit shutout for Osseo who had won their first three games of the tournament by one run.
The team now advances to the state tournament for the first time since 2013.
Pool play in the 16-team state tourney begins Thursday with Osseo opening against Eden Prairie Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
The 2021 tournament is being played at multiple fields in the St. Cloud area.
Hopkins is also a local state tournament qualifier having defeated Wayzata in the Sub-State 4 final.
