Osseo Boys Basketball Knocks Off # 3 Maple Grove in OT
The Osseo boys basketball team upset 3rd-ranked Maple Grove 58-54 in overtime, handing the Crimson just their third loss of the season.
The Orioles (8-9) trailed by eight points midway through the second half but chipped away and tied the score at 51 with under 30 seconds play, sending the game to overtime.
Neither team made a field goal in overtime and the Orioles outscored the Crimson 7-3 from the free throw line.
Maple Grove, trailing by two points with under 10 seconds to play, missed a three-pointer that would have given them the lead.
Trey Smith scored 16 points and De’Mari Larkins 15 for the Orioles.
Henry Stang netted 15 to lead the Crimson (13-3) in scoring.
It is the only regular season meeting of the year for the teams although they could play again in next month’s Section 5AAAA tournament.
