Minnesotan Olympic Women’s Hockey Players Welcomed Home
The Minnesota contingent of the gold medal-winning USA women’s hockey team received a warm welcome as they came home to Minneapolis Monday night.
The entire team flew from Italy to Atlanta and from there the Minnesota women made their way back home.
Among the Minnesotans who won gold last week in Milan were two who played their high school hockey here in the northwest suburbs- Kelly Pannek (Benilde-St. Margaret’s 2014) and Grace Zumwinkle (Breck 2017).
Three members of the 1980 men’s hockey team- the Miracle on Ice gold medalists- were also on hand to welcome the team home- Neal Broten, Mike Ramsey, and Buzz Schneider.
Katie Million of Minneapolis is the director of the women’s national team programs and manages events for the 1980 team and was also part of the Minnesota Olympic hockey group to arrive home.
