Maranatha Boys Basketball Loses to Blake in 5AA Final
The Maranatha Christian Academy boys basketball team fell one game short of its first trip to the state tournament in 11 years, losing 59-54 to Blake in the Section 5AA championship game.
The Bears (19-12) won five games in the tournament, the final four over higher seeded teams. Trammel White scored 20 points and Carson McMichael 16 for Blake.
Ira Thomas scored 15 points for Maranatha (25-4) with Chase Daniels and Marcus Marshall adding 13 apiece. MCA had defeated Blake during the regular season.
It’s the first state tournament appearance for Blake since 2013.
