MapleBrook Soccer Players Eager to Return to Field
The COVID-19 pandemic has cut into their schedule in a big way, but soccer players in the MapleBrook program are eager to return to the field.
The large club that was founded in 1987 in the Maple Grove/Brooklyn Park area has around 1,400 players total with its affiliated clubs.
Since March when the first stay at home orders were given coaches and players have gone to mostly virtual training and meetings.
Monday June 1 marked a next phase for re-opening, and some small group practices with social distancing measures will be starting up in the club.
Game play may not happen this summer or it will be very small-scale if games do happen, but coaches and players are ready to get back in the field.
Many summer leagues and associations have already canceled game play.
They want to keep the momentum going for players as they get set for tryouts and for some, the possible high school season in the fall.
That of course is very much up in the air, too.
