Maple Grove’s Brock Faber and U.S. Junior Team Wins World Opener
Maple Grove native Brock Faber and his U.S. teammates won their opening game Sunday at the IIHF Junior Championships in Alberta, Canada.
Earlier in the week Faber was named an alternate captain for the U.S. squad. He is a sophomore defenseman for the University of Minnesota.
The 19-year old Faber was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
Team USA defeated Slovokia 3-2 on the opening day of the tournament. Pool play continues through Friday with the tournament championship game scheduled for January 5th.
Team USA plays Switzerland Tuesday in its second tournament game.
