Maple Grove Wins NWSC Girls Golf Championship
The Maple Grove girls golf team won the season-ending Northwest Suburban Conference tournament Tuesday to clinch the conference title for the season.
Maple Grove shot 305 as a team, 13 shots ahead of runner-up Elk River. Andover was a distant third at 347.
Five of the top nine players in the tournament were from Maple Grove.
Defending state individual champion Kathryn VanArragon of Blaine shot a five-under par score of 67 to win medalist honors.
Maple Grove’s Payton Anderson (72) and Amelia Morton (74) finished second and third overall while Crimson players Julia Contreras (79), Maria Contreras (80) and McKenna Hogan (80) also placed in the top 10.
The Crimson won all of their conference matches this season and took first place in the mid and end of season tournament.
Park Center junior Alysen Blomberg shot an 80 to tie for seventh place.
Totino-Grace’s Caylin Cantwell (83) and Armstrong’s Sylvia Seiffert (87) also finished in the top 15.

The NWSC season-ending boys tournament is Thursday at Bunker Hills with section tournament play next week.
