Maple Grove Softball Wins State Quarterfinal; Loses in Semifinal
The Maple Grove softball team won its state tournament quarterfinal round game Thursday morning, beating Farmington 2-1.
The Crimson scored runs in the second and fifth innings on singles from Faith Kreye and Maddie Wihlm.
The Tigers got their only run on a fifth-inning hit from Payton Boyd.
Wihlm allowed just two hits and struck out 14 to win her 20th game of the season.
However, the Crimson lost Thursday afternoon falling 8-0 to defending state champion Forest Lake.
The Crimson play for third place Friday morning at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
