Maple Grove Repeats as 5AAAA Boys Basketball Champion With Win Over Osseo
Max Iversen scored 28 points and Jack Thelen 21 to lead the Maple Grove boys basketball team to a 73-61 Section 5AAAA final win over Osseo.
It was the first game this season between the two District 279 rivals.
After Osseo took a 12-11 lead four minutes into the game Maple Grove went on a 16-2 scoring run to take the lead for good.
Down 14 points at halftime, the Orioles started the second half scoring 11 of the first 13 points to cut the deficit to five but never got closer.
Kwa Silikpoh led Osseo in scoring with 22 points while Owen Counce added 16.
Osseo finishes the season with a record of 22-7.
It’s the second straight section title for Maple Grove (23-6) who will find out Tuesday their quarterfinal round opponent for the state tournament which starts March 24th at Target Center.
