Maple Grove, Moorhead Hockey Go 2-0 at Turkey Trot
The Maple Grove and Moorhead boys hockey teams each won both of their games at the Turkey Trot tournament in Plymouth over the weekend to start their seasons 2-0.
The Crimson defeated Wayzata 4-2 on Friday and then beat Edina 4-3 in overtime on Saturday.
Moorhead- last year’s Class AA state champion- skated past Edina 6-3 Friday and then blanked Wayzata 7-0 Saturday.
Four different Spuds players scored two goals in the tournament.
Sam Biederwolf and Lane Glende each scored twice on the weekend for the Crimson.
The Turkey Trot tournament started in 2002. Since 2019 the four teams have been Wayzata, Maple Grove, Edina and Moorhead.
