Maple Grove Legion Baseball Beats Blaine 9-2
The Maple Grove American Legion baseball team won its fifth straight game Thursday, beating Blaine 9-2.
Grove scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead for good.
Nathan Schmidt delivered three hits in the game, including a homerun.
Ethan Zimmerman pitched a complete game for Maple Grove (5-1).
The game was the first for MG on the new Gleason Field athletic complex.
The 14 million dollar project includes four new all-turf fields for baseball and softball, plus LED lighting, a concession stand and other amenities.
