Maple Grove Honors Retiring Coaches
Three longtime Maple Grove High School coaches who are retiring at the end of the spring season were honored Friday night.
Darby Carlson, Ken Thompson, and Rob Bremseth were recognized at a ceremony after Maple Grove’s baseball game against Osseo.
Crimson head baseball coach Carlson recently won his 400th career game, and is one of two remaining original head coaches from when Maple Grove High School opened in the 1996-’97 school year.
Carlson has had eight Crimson baseball teams reach the state tournament.
He’s also a longtime football and boys basketball assistant.
Ken Thompson has been the wise veteran assistant on the Crimson baseball staff from day one in the program.
He and Carlson both coached at Osseo prior to Maple Grove opening.
Bremseth has been a popular assistant coach for 35 years and has coached at all three District 279 high schools.
He has been an assistant in football, boys basketball, and softball in recent years at Maple Grove.
Bremseth has also coached girls basketball and track.
