Maple Grove Hockey Standout Danny Nelson Set for College
It’s been a whirlwind summer for hockey star Danny Nelson of Maple Grove.
Nelson was picked in the second round of the NHL draft by the New York Islanders.
He also took summer courses at Notre Dame, where he’ll be a freshman this fall.
Nelson had a standout sophomore season playing for Maple Grove High School in 2021-’22.
Last season he played in the U.S. National Development Program,
He accelerated his high school graduation by one year to begin college this school year, just after turning 18.
Danny will play college hockey at Notre Dame with his brother Henry, who is two years older but will also be a freshman this season.
