Maple Grove Hockey Preps For State Tournament
The waiting is almost over for the Maple Grove boys’ hockey team. The Crimson will hold a final practice Tuesday as the Crimson prepare for the state tournament Wednesday.
The Crimson (20-1-0) are seeded fourth in the Class AA tournament and face fifth-seeded Andover in the quarterfinal round Wednesday at approximately 8:00 pm at the Xcel Energy Center.
Maple Grove defeated Andover twice during the regular season.
The Crimson shut out Centennial 7-0 in the Section 5AA championship game last Thursday.
Forward Kyle Kukkonen is the Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year and leads the team in scoring with 30 goals and 42 assists.
The state tournament semifinals are scheduled for Friday night with the Class AA title game Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
