Maple Grove girls win first state soccer game
The weather changed in a hurry Thursday, with strong winds and rain taking over at night at Chisago Lakes High School. Maple Grove got an early goal on a rebound by Lauren Bredensteiner to take a 1-0 lead over East Ridge in the state class AA quarterfinals. Second half goals from Mia Omar and Lexi Miller helped the Crimson to seal up a 3-0 win. The victory puts them into the semifinals Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at U.S. Bank Stadium against Lakeville North. Lakeville North knocked off Andover in the quarterfinals. Andover was one of two teams to beat Maple Grove during the regular season.
