Maple Grove Girls Soccer Upsets White Bear Lake in State Quarterfinals
The Maple Grove girls soccer team upset White Bear Lake 2-1 in a rainy Class AAA state quarterfinal game played at Kuhlman Field in Edina.
The Crimson scored their two goals within six minutes of each other in the first half.
Jessica Lee scored first with a left-foot strike to the back of the net. Then Keira Gill capitalized on a White Bear Lake turnover with another rocket of a kick to the top right corner of the goal.
The Crimson came into the state tournament unseeded, while White Bear Lake was seeded third.
Maple Grove advances to the semifinals to face #2 Wayzata at U.S. Bank Stadium on Tuesday, October 31st at approximately 10:00 AM.
