Maple Grove Girls Soccer Tops Spring Lake Park in 5AAA Final
The Maple Grove girls soccer team beat Spring Lake Park 4-2 Tuesday in the Section 5AAA championship match.
It’s the second straight year the Crimson beat the Panthers in the final.
Abbey Oakland, Jessica Lee, Kelsey Wentland, and Keira Gill scored goals for the Crimson. Brianna Finnegan scored both Spring Lake Park goals.
It was the first loss of the season for the Panthers.
Maple Grove (14-2-2) qualifies for state for the fifth time in school history, all since 2017.
The seeding for the state tournament takes place Saturday with quarterfinal round matches for both girls and boys taking place Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
