Maple Grove Girls Hockey Team Wins State Opener
The Maple Grove girls hockey team won its state tournament opener, beating Hill-Murray 3-2 in the class AA quarterfinals.
The Crimson trailed the Pioneers 2-1 heading into the third period.
Sam Stelljes scored just under six minutes into the third period to tie the game.
Tristana Tatur stole the puck from a Pioneer just after a faceoff and netted the game winning goal.
It was the second goal of the game for Tatur.
Maple Grove meets top seed Edina in the semifinals Friday night.
