Maple Grove Girls Hockey Skates to 3-1 Win
The Maple Grove girls hockey team won its third straight game to start the season, beating River Cities 3-1 Thursday.
River Cities- formerly known as Champlin Park/Coon Rapids- took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a breakaway goal by June Semling, set up on a pass from Sydney Burnevik.
The Crimson tied it in the second period on a Cate Fischer goal and took the lead with two third period goals- one from Hadley Bakker on the power play and the second from Harper Wieneke.
Bella Prosser made 20 saves to get the win in net.
Maple Grove (3-0-0) plays at Benilde-St. Margaret’s next Thursday.
River Cities (1-1-0) meets defending state champion Hill-Murray on Saturday.
