Maple Grove Girls Hockey Blanks Shakopee
The Maple Grove girls hockey team overcame a hot goalie to beat Shakopee 3-0 in the home opener for the Crimson.
Shakopee’s Brooke Frey had 51 saves in all and kept her team in the game all night.
After a scoreless first period, Bella Shipley set up Kelsey Olson for a goal early in the second to give Maple Grove a 1-0 lead.
Frey helped keep it that way until late in the game.
Olson scored her second of the night on a rush with just under six minutes left in the third period.
Shipley added a goal three minutes later to make the final 3-0.
Maple Grove improved to 2-0 this season.
