Maple Grove Girls Hockey Shoots for Strong Season
The Maple Grove girls hockey team didn’t get to ease into the season.
They opened the 2023-’24 campaign with a rematch of last season’s Section 5AA final against Centennial/Spring Lake Park.
After losing the section final, Maple Grove won the season opener Saturday 1-0 in overtime.
Maple Grove does return some key players from a 19-win team, but they also have a young group.
As many as nine freshmen may be in the lineup for some games.
Senior goalie Dani Strom is one of the state’s best, and forward Bella Shipley and defenseman Grace Erickson are returners, too.
Maple Grove’s home opener is Thursday night against Shakopee in a game you can see live on CCX Sports.
