Maple Grove Girls Hockey Loses in 5AA Final
The Maple Grove girls’ hockey team fell one game short of the state tournament, losing 2-1 to Centennial/Spring Lake Park in the Section 5AA final.
Ella Olson opened the scoring for the Crimson in the second period but Centennial tied it later in the second on a powerplay goal by Noelle Hemr.
Jaycee Chatleain scored the game-winning goal with 1:28 remaining in the third period, knocking home a rebound off a shot from Hemr.
Maple Grove goalie Dani Strom and Centennial’s Kaitlin Groess each made 29 saves.
The Crimson finish the season with a record of 19-7-1.
The Cougars (21-6-1) plays top-seeded Minnetonka in the state tournament quarterfinals.
