Maple Grove Girls Hockey Falls to Centennial/Spring Lake Park
The Maple Grove girls hockey team fell to Centennial/Spring Lake Park 3-1 in a battle of two of the top teams in Section 5AA.
The Cougars scored first on a top-shelf goal from Katie Ball just six minutes into the game. After neither team scored in the second, Centennial/Spring Lake Park doubled their lead in the third on a goal from Alaina Gnetz.
Maple Grove answered with a goal scored on a power play from Cate Fischer, assisted by Harper Wieneke.
The Crimson had some opportunities later in the third, but the Cougars scored an empty netter to seal the win.
Centennial/Spring Lake Park advances to 7-1-1 with the win, while Maple Grove drops to 6-2.
