Maple Grove Girls Hockey Edged by Andover
The Maple Grove girls hockey team came up just short Tuesday, losing 3-2 to Andover in a battle of ranked teams.
Each team scored in the first period but the Huskies scored twice in the second period on goals by Ella Boerger and Maya Engler to take the lead for good.
Stella Retrum and Ella Olson scored goals for the Crimson; Olson’s coming in the third period to make the final 3-2.
Elie Hancock stopped 35 shots in net for Maple Grove (12-3-0).
It was the first conference loss of the season for the Crimson who saw their four-game winning streak end.
Andover remains unbeaten in Northwest Suburban Conference play as the Huskies improved to 13-2-0.
