Maple Grove Girls Hockey Beats Rogers in OT
The Maple Grove girls hockey team beat seventh-ranked Rogers 3-2 in overtime Tuesday night.
Tia Rice scored the game-winner on a pass from Bella Shipley for the Crimson.
Stella Retrum scored the first two goals of the game for Maple Grove early in the first period.
Rogers played well the rest of the way after falling behind 2-0.
Ava Johansson scored early in the second period for the Royals to make it 2-1.
Just 11 seconds into the third period Rogers tied it as Avery Achterkirch scored after a Crimson turnover.
Both teams had some near misses but it stayed 2-2 until Rice tucked away the game winner with 2:11 left in overtime.
Dani Strom had 47 saves in goal for the Crimson.
