Maple Grove Girls Hockey Beats CPCR Advances to Section Final
Kelsey Olson and Stella Retrum scored two goals apiece to lead the Maple Grove girls hockey team to a 6-1 win over Champlin Park/Coon Rapids in the semifinal round of the Section 5AA tournament.
The Crimson advance to the section final Friday night against Centennial/Spring Lake Park at Roseville Ice Arena.
Tia Rice and Belly Shipley opened the scoring for Maple Grove in the first period and Olson scored the only goal of the second. The Crimson added three more goals in the third period. Kennedy Bolander scored in the game’s final five minutes for the Bluebirds’ only goal of the game.
Dani Strom stopped 25 shots in net for Maple Grove.
Maple Grove (19-6-2) beat Centennial/SLP (18-8-1) 2-1 in overtime when the teams met in January.
