Maple Grove Girls Hockey Advances to Section Final
The Maple Grove girls hockey team pulled away to beat Rogers 4-1 in the Section 5AA semifinals.
The win puts the Crimson into Friday’s section final against Blaine.
After a scoreless first period, Maple Grove’s Emily Oakland put a puck on net from the point that snuck through for a goal.
Rogers tied it on a rebound goal by Allison Hatcher midway through the period.
Lauren Stenslie’s power play goal on a wrist shot from the circle put Maple Grove back in front 2-1.
In the third period, Tristana Tatur scored from just inside the blue line to make it 3-1.
Stenslie added an empty net goal in the final minute to seal the game for the Crimson.
Maple Grove is the defending section champion.
They face Blaine Friday night at 7:00 at Roseville Ice Arena in the section championship game.
